CSEE in the News
Yonkers, N.Y. (February 26, 2026)
The initiative marks a significant milestone in the school’s long-standing mission to
integrate physical fitness with academic rigor, fostering an environment where students
develop both healthy bodies and sharp minds.
The new program serves as a vital developmental pipeline for the school’s older
divisions. By introducing organized basketball at the elementary level, CSEE ensures
that younger students receive the fundamental training and teamwork experience
necessary to excel in the school’s competitive junior and varsity programs in middle and
high school.
“The response from our families has been incredible,” said CSEE Athletic Director
Michael DeSimone. “They recognize that this program goes beyond learning to dribble
or shoot. The objective is to build confidence and a sense of belonging. Our community
has been asking for more ways to get involved, and we are delivering a program that
prepares them for the next level of their CSEE journey.”
This expansion follows the blueprint of CSEE’s highly successful weekend soccer
clinics. Held during the warmer months, those clinics saw record participation and
proved that the school community has a massive appetite for early-childhood sports
programming.
The program’s highlights include an athletic-academic link that focuses on the whole
child by reinforcing classroom discipline on the court, along with skills progression
curriculums tailored for younger age groups to ensure proper technique and safety.
