Social Distancing During Covid-19
Social distancing, school closures, cancelledevents…Terms like these have become a regular part of our vocabulary over the past few
weeks. As a result of the new coronavirus, young people are adjusting to lots of change and
a new normal.
What is social distancing? Social distancing is about spacing people out (6 ft.) to help slow down the spread of
COVID-19. It’s also called physical distancing to help remind people it’s not about stopping social connection;
it’s about giving ourselves room to avoid catching/spreading the disease. It’s important to:

- Avoid physical contact with people outside your living space
- Keep at least six feet of space between yourself and others in public
- Stay home as much as possible
- Atay away from crowded areas
- Be mindful of face-to-face contact with people who are more vulnerable to the virus
How can young people cope with social distancing?

- Find a new daily routine; get all your online
assignments completed in a timely manner - Go for a walk- while maintaining distance;
complete the daily Owls workout - Play a board game with people you live with
- Check in on your friends through texting or
social media - Create a check list of the things you want to do
when social distancing is over - Read- there are so many books online students
can access - Do creative writing or keep a journal of each day
- Learn a new skill
